FWA Connect & Thrive is a monthly community experience designed for people with physical disabilities in Grand Rapids and Kent County. Each 2.5–3 hour session blends fun social activities, empowering talks, and supportive peer circles to reduce isolation, build confidence, and promote holistic wellness. From icebreakers and adaptive recreation to guest speakers and open discussions, Connect & Thrive is where friendship meets growth. 💚

What is Connect & Thrive?
A monthly, all-in-one community event by Friends With Abilities, Each session blends fun, empowerment, and support to reduce isolation and promote holistic wellness.
Program Format
🤝 Connection Hour – “Fun with Friends”
- 🎉 Games, icebreakers & celebrations
- 🎨 Adaptive activities (crafts, movies, karaoke, nature walks, etc.)
🎤 Empowerment Segment – “Thrive Talk”
- Guest speakers: advocates, mental health pros, life coaches
- 💡 Topics: self-advocacy, stress coping, independent living, resources
💬 Support Circle – “Voices of Ability”
- Peer-to-peer discussion
- 🤝 Safe space to share, reflect, and encourage
