Being Differently Abled.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where people with physical disabilities—especially those from underserved and historically excluded communities, lead lives of independence, purpose, and joy. Rooted in the values of inclusion, equity, visibility, and leadership, we strive for communities where accessibility is universal, every voice is heard, and all people are empowered to thrive and belong without limits.

Our program goals:

  • Organize group outings to cultural sites, museums, parks, concerts, and  community events while celebrating being  differently able, which  encourages social interaction and engagement.

  • Partner with local businesses and venues to advocate for accessibility improvements and inclusive experiences.

  • Create peer support groups that encourage friendships and social connections outside of scheduled outings.

  • Host volunteer-led excursions that connect participants with local cultural and recreational opportunities.

  • Create safe spaces for individuals with disabilities to connect, share experiences, and build community.

  • Provide meaningful educational opportunities for our participants . (EX : health/wellness, financial literacy, nutrition)

Paul D. Mayfield
Founder/CEO Friends with Abilities

I am excited to announce the launch of our new non-profit organization, FRIENDS WITH ABILITIES. This initiative is close to my heart, as it stems from my own experiences and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive regardless of ability.

As someone who is blind, I understand firsthand the importance of support, community and opportunity. Friends With Abilities specializes in bridging the gap between isolation and having a more fruitful life. We provide resources and strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can achieve their fullest potential.

We don’t believe in having a disability; we believe in being “differently abled”. Our events are fun, engaging and offer equality for all people. Everything is free, and we always have a good time.  Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Together , we can build a brighter and more inclusive future.
